Maine Coon needs care, but all the efforts of the owner will pay off handsomely: these cats are not just pets, but real friends who respond with love and affection to human care. Due to improper feeding and maintenance, Maine Coons can often get sick.

Most often, they have such diseases of a genetic nature as: ̶ hip dysplasia: a hereditary defect in the development of the hip joint, the result of which is the disappearance of cartilage.

Maine Coons with obesity are especially predisposed to this disease; ̶ feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: this is heart failure of a genetic nature, but can also be caused by too low amino acids. ̶ polycystic kidney disease: leads to the appearance of cysts that compress the kidney tissue and interfere with the normal functioning of the kidney; ̶ spinal amyotrophy: a disease of nerve cells that leads to atrophy and muscle weakness. Therefore, it is very important to conduct genetic tests on parents. In addition to the traditional preventive and curative care for all cats (in this case, vaccination, deworming, flea treatment), Maine Coon owners will need to take special precautions to minimize the likelihood of developing breed-specific diseases due to build and long hair.

Any pet requires care and affection. For the Maine Coon, this statement is doubly true, because representatives of this breed stand apart among all domestic cats: both in size, and in their formidable appearance, and in their unusually kind character. When choosing as your Maine Coon, you must be prepared for the responsibility that you will take on for your new furry friend, who, with a high degree of probability, will become a full-fledged family member in the very first days of your stay at home. But your efforts will certainly pay off: Maine Coons know how to reciprocate, to give their owners a reciprocal affection. It is about such cats that they say: “He understands everything, but he doesn’t speak!” With proper care and nutrition, the Maine Coon will live for a very long time - up to two decades - and will give you a lot of love, pleasure and communication during this time. And we will give you advice that will help in this, because Maine Coons have long been part of our family, and we want to share this happiness with you!

̶ дисплазия тазобедренного сустава: наследственный дефект развития тазобедренного сустава, следствием которого является исчезновение хряща. Особенно предрасположены к этому заболеванию мейн-куны с ожирением;

̶ поликистоз почек: приводит к появлению кист, которые сдавливают почечную ткань и препятствуют нормальному функционированию почки;
